Editorial policy
This policy explains how we create, label and maintain the content on Tasty Nest Recipes, so you know what to expect from every page.
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Original content
Recipe introductions, instructions, tips and guides on Tasty Nest Recipes are written for this site. We do not copy recipe text from other publications. Classic dishes are, of course, shared by many cooks; when we write our version, we describe it in our own words.
Testing labels
Recipes labelled "Not yet kitchen-tested" are original and follow standard cooking methods, but we have not yet cooked them ourselves to confirm the result. We will never describe a recipe as tested unless it has been. When a recipe is tested or significantly revised, we update the page and its date information. Our recipe testing and nutrition policy explains this in detail.
Guides
Kitchen guides explain techniques and food-safety basics. Safety advice is based on official sources such as the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service and the US Food and Drug Administration, which we link to where relevant.
Times and yields
- Prep time covers measuring, chopping and mixing.
- Cook time covers active and passive cooking on the stove or in the oven.
- Total time adds prep, cooking and any additional time, such as resting, chilling or cooling.
- Recipes listed in Quick & Easy all have a total time of 30 minutes or less.
Food safety
Where doneness affects safety, we give minimum internal temperatures based on guidance from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service. Our guide to safe internal temperatures explains how to check them.
Nutrition information
Some recipes show estimated nutrition per serving. These are approximate values worked out from typical nutrition data for the listed ingredients, and they are always labelled as estimates. They have not been verified by a dietitian or by laboratory analysis, so they are not included in our structured data, and they should not be relied on for medical or dietary decisions. See how we estimate nutrition.
Ratings and reviews
We do not display ratings or reviews unless they come from real readers. We never invent them.
Photos
We use our own photos or images that we are licensed or otherwise permitted to use. Photos from other photographers are credited on the page where they appear and on our photo credits page. They illustrate the dish and may not show the exact result of our recipe.
Advertising and independence
We may show ads to fund the site. Advertisers do not choose, review or pay for our recipes or guides, ads are kept visually separate from our content, and we never encourage readers to click on them. We do not currently publish sponsored posts or affiliate links; if we do in future, they will be clearly labelled.
